Free samples of GPI books are now open in the bookstore, and the website is published in 20 languages. From the grandson and heir of Operation Nemesis organizer Shahan Natalie: documented history the Armenian nation has not been told, with new titles every month.
On October 22, 2026, the Jerusalem Post told its readers that Russian advances in the South Caucasus “split Azerbaijan in two,” and called for a grand alliance of Greece, Cyprus, Israel, Kurdistan, and “a united Azerbaijan.” This paper tests that story against the record: the treaties, the founding declaration, the League of Nations file, the Soviet protocols, and the orders of the International Court of Justice.
Neither the Treaty of Gulistan of 1813 nor the Treaty of Turkmenchay of 1828 calls the lands ceded to Russia “Azerbaijan.” The republic that took the name was proclaimed in Tiflis in May 1918, Iran objected at once, and in December 1920 the League of Nations found that Azerbaijan’s frontiers could not be defined. The paper carries the same test into the present, from Israel’s 69 percent share of Azerbaijan’s major arms imports to President Aliyev’s declaration that “present-day Armenia is our land.” A historical name is not a deed to another nation’s territory.
After twenty-eight years the investigation into the death of Monte Melkonian has concluded, and its full report has been published as a book. The inquiry was initiated in 1998 by his father, Charlie Melkonian, and was carried out by investigative journalist and human rights activist Ara Khachig Manoogian.
Ara Khachig Manoogian’s new book shows how a secular political project borrowed the authority of scripture, and how the faith of Christians, Jews, and Muslims has been used ever since in the service of oil, arms, and power.
Drawn from the founders’ own diaries, government archives, and court records. Available now in paperback and eBook.
On 17 June the Prime Minister of Armenia asked twice, from the floor of the National Assembly, who is left thinking about the destiny of the homeland. Twice he answered himself with a sneer, and pointed at the man who went on hunger strike in 2013 before another country’s president.
Ara Khachig Manoogian’s letter to friends and family: the men he knows in a cell in Baku, the gap he found five weeks ago after 148 years of Armenian effort, and why one word in an act of Congress is the difference between a promise and an obligation. Available in 20 languages.
After the 2023 depopulation of Artsakh, Azerbaijan’s doctrine of “Western Azerbaijan” has turned Armenia itself into a declared target. Our latest study traces how rhetoric becomes state policy — and what it means for Armenian sovereignty.
